#PressPlay | Transcending Sound's Spring 2020 Playlist

I don’t know about any of you, but this quarantine has made me slow down significantly. The lack of productivity is so bad that this post and the playlist have been continuously edited and sitting in the drafts for weeks. I know. Terrible.

Part of it came from it being a slow moving playlist. I wanted something more upbeat (because of how lethargic the pandemic has made me feel in energy and spirit). But, it’s best to listen to your heart, your conscience. If that’s how it feels, then that’s how it feels. There’s no denying it. So, most of the playlist will feel slow. There’s peaks of energy, but it’s definitely a short, but slow, burn, if that makes any sense. Also, the majority of the playlist is R&B with much of the music created by black women. Shout out to India Shawn, Elle Cook, MovaKween, Cecily, Kirby, and more!

The vibe of the playlist is a product of various thoughts and energies felt during the past two months: a sense of nostalgia, a yearning for bonding and, in some cases, healing, and definitely the need to travel or just be outside. It’s an ode to the past, an acknowledgment of the present, and a prayer for the future.
